The weekly newsletter that connects the dots Amazon sellers are missing

Reading Time: 4 min

Readability: Grade 2 (which is roughly how long it takes to list on TikTok Shop now)

Amazon sellers, I need you to pay attention to what just happened.

TikTok Shop quietly rolled out a feature that should make Jeff Bezos choke on his morning coffee.

It's called "List with a URL."

And it does exactly what it sounds like.

DEEP DIVE

TikTok Shop Just Made Amazon's Worst Nightmare Stupidly Easy

Here's How It Works

You go to your TikTok Shop Seller Centre. Click "Add product." Choose "List with a URL."

Then you paste in a link to your product from any external website.

TikTok pulls across the images. The title. The description. The category. The brand. Everything.

Your listing is basically built for you. In minutes. Not hours. Not days. Minutes.

But here's where it gets interesting...

You can use your Amazon listing URL.

Let that sink in for a second.

You can literally copy your Amazon product link, paste it into TikTok Shop, and watch it auto-populate an entire listing. Images, bullet points, the lot.

I tested it. It took me less than 5 minutes to go from Amazon link to a draft listing ready for review on TikTok Shop.

Five. Minutes.

Why This Is a Bigger Deal Than It Looks

On the surface, this is just a convenience feature. A nice little time-saver. Cool.

But zoom out and you'll see what TikTok is actually doing here.

They're rolling out the red carpet for Amazon sellers.

Think about it. The biggest objection I hear from Amazon sellers about TikTok Shop is: "I don't have time to build out another platform."

TikTok just killed that objection. Dead.

You don't need to create new listings from scratch. You don't need to reshoot product images. You don't need to rewrite your copy. You paste a URL and TikTok does the heavy lifting.

They specifically designed this to make it as frictionless as possible for Amazon sellers to cross the bridge. This isn't subtle. This is a direct play.

Now Connect the Dots

Two weeks ago, TikTok Shop dropped another bombshell: mandatory platform-managed fulfilment for all US sellers.

Starting February 25th, Seller Shipping is dead. Every order has to go through TikTok's own logistics — Fulfilled by TikTok (FBT), Upgraded TikTok Shipping, or Collections by TikTok.

Some sellers are panicking about this.

But step back and look at the full picture.

TikTok Shop now handles your listing creation AND your fulfilment.

Sound familiar?

That's the Amazon playbook. Create your listing, send us your inventory, we handle the rest.

TikTok is becoming a full-service marketplace. A proper 3PL. They're building their own FBA.

And the "List with a URL" feature is the on-ramp.

Here's What Nobody's Saying Out Loud

TikTok didn't build URL importing for Shopify sellers or DTC brands. I mean, they can use it. But come on.

The primary target is Amazon sellers. And the message is pretty clear:

"Hey, you've already done the hard work building your listings on Amazon. We'll take that. And now we'll ship it for you too. What's stopping you?"

Here's the pattern I see playing out:

  • Step 1: Make it dead simple to list products (URL import )

  • Step 2: Take control of fulfilment (mandatory logistics )

  • Step 3: Build the affiliate and content engine around those products (already happening )

  • Step 4: Offer advertising tools that rival Sponsored Products (GMV Max )

That's not a side hustle marketplace. That's a full-blown Amazon competitor.

Should Amazon Be Nervous?

Look, I'm not saying TikTok Shop is going to replace Amazon. Let's be real. Amazon is a behemoth.

But here's what I am saying:

TikTok Shop just removed the two biggest barriers to entry for Amazon sellers — listing creation and fulfilment complexity.

The excuse of "it's too hard to get set up" is gone.

And TikTok has 170 million US users scrolling every day, discovering products through content instead of search. That's a fundamentally different buying behaviour. And it's growing.

What This Means For You

If you're an Amazon seller who's been "thinking about" TikTok Shop for a while... the runway just got shorter.

Not because you have to move right now. But because the friction that was protecting your procrastination just disappeared.

Your competitor down the road? The one who keeps showing up at those mastermind events talking about diversification?

They're pasting their Amazon URLs into TikTok Shop right now. And in six months, they'll have two revenue streams while you're still "thinking about it."

The barrier to entry just went from a wall to a speed bump.

The question isn't whether TikTok Shop is ready for Amazon sellers anymore.

The question is whether you're ready to stop making excuses.

That's it for this week 👊

But I need to ask a favour...
